Indoor Hilltopper Mound Built at STMA Convention

Posted 14 years ago

The Sports Turf Manager’s Association Convention begins this week in San Jose, CA. Last year’s convention was right here in our own backyard, Phoenix, AZ. If nothing else, we had tons of fun. Literally ‘tons’ of fun, as we brought in 6 tons of Hilltopper® Mound Clay for a mound building demonstration put on by Chris Ralston of the Lake Elsinore Storm and his friends.

Hilltopper® stole the show. Spectators were amazed at how little mess was made during the construction of an indoor mound. Since no water or screening was needed, Hilltopper® Mound Clay was ready to pack right out of the bag, eliminating much hassle for Chris and the convention organizers. The highlight of the demonstration was when Chris poured a bottle of water right on the finished Hilltopper® Mound. The crowd was amazed as the water rolled right off of the mound.

That wasn’t the only fun we had inside the doors of the tradeshow. NFL Hall of Fame Groundskeeper George Toma stopped by our booth for a little autograph session. Also, a little World Series bling was displayed, courtesy of Grant Trenbreath and Sean Payton of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Stop by booth number 1120 and see what kind of fun, or trouble, we get into this year!
