Veterans Park will also serve as the host for the ASA Girls’ A 10-Under Fast Pitch Southern National Championship and ASA Coed Class D Southern Slow Pitch National Championship in August 2011.

“We are extremely honored and very proud that our facility was selected for the 2010 ASA Complex of the Year presented by Stabilizer Solutions, Inc.,” said Colin Killian, Communications and Marketing Specialist for the City of College Station. “I think behind every great facility there is an army of great people and we certainly have that with the City of College Station and our Parks and Recreation department. They worked really hard in putting the ASA/USA 16-Under National Championship this summer and I think they drew rave reviews from everyone who participated and the spectators as well. It was a great event from start to finish which is a tribute to our park and rec department and especially Geri Marsh who was the tournament director.”

Veterans Park is 28 acres of a 150 acre facility that also includes a 12 acre Veterans Memorial dedicated to all veterans of the Brazos Valley who have served the United States in wars and a 9/11 memorial. Completion of Phase I of the park, which included the first two softball fields as well as six soccer fields and other amenities like parking, was dedicated in May 2003. In April 2007, an additional three softball fields and three soccer fields were opened with Phase II, which also included a 500 capacity American pavilion and American History Mile Trail. Phase III will include an additional four softball fields, making Veterans Park a nine field complex in the future.

“We are very proud of all our facilities in College Station,” said Killian said. “Veterans Park is special in our view and this affirms our feelings. We thank the ASA and Stabilizer Solutions very much for this tremendous honor.”
